NSTS is the National Sprayer Testing Scheme for the UK. The scheme was introduced in 2003, building upon a voluntary program established in 1997 by the Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA).
Techneat is an official NSTS test centre and provides nationwide coverage, with examiners qualified to conduct sprayer testing for a range of applicators to ensure your equipment abides with the necessary legislative standards.
All pesticide application equipment need to hold a valid test certificate. This includes trailed, mounted and self-propelled sprayers as well as foggers, misters, granular and slug pellet applicators.
Not sure when your last test was completed? Head to NSTS and enter your test report number to find out.
What do we test?
Techneat carry out tests for both agriculture and amenity, offering on-site testing for:
- Micro-granular applicators
- Slug pellet applicators
- Liquid applicators
NSTS equipment are a requirement of many UK farm assurance schemes and supermarket protocols. These tests ensure your equipment meets the standards required by:
Red Tractor Farm Assurance Combinable Crops & Sugar Beet Scheme, Supermarket protocols, Sustainable Use Directive (SUD).
Through our testing covering all application components, safety is ensured for both the operator and the environment. Obtaining a valid NSTS certificate provides the confidence you need for your machinery to work effectively and efficiently.

Techneat NSTS testing provides the following to:
- Ensure sprayer equipment and agrochemicals are being used in a manner that is safe for the sprayer operative.
- Using expensive nematicide, most efficiently, getting the chemicals exactly where they are needed, with minimal money-wasting excess.
- Satisfies the sprayer testing requirements of the Sustainable Use of Pesticides Directive.
Working with a network of partners across the country we provide a calibration service for users of
nematicides. Spare parts are available for Horstine including sprockets, metering cartridges and fishtail outlets.
